Richard was born on February 29, 1960, in El Paso, Texas, and he had multiple head injuries even at a very young age.
Ramirez had killed over a dozen people in the mid-1980s and was sentenced to death.
He used to target the victims while they were asleep, and it terrorized California.

Later, on March 27, 10 days later after the assault, Richard murdered 64 year old, Vincent Zazzara and his 44-year-old wife, Maxine.

Even after the security was very tight and the entire police operation was rigorous, Ramirez attacked pensioners William and Lillie Doi in May 1985 following the same attack pattern.
