Drew McIntyre: Early Life, Family & Education

In Ayr, Andrew Mclean Galloway IV, a.k.a Drew McIntyre, was born on June 6, 1985.

The great Scottish wrestler is the son of Andrew Galloway Sr. and the late Angela Anne Galloway.

His mother passed away on November 3, 2012.

McIntyre is also known as the “Scottish Psychopath.”

Andrew belongs to the Scottish ethnicity and follows the Christian religion.

Drew grew up near Prestwick with his brother John and went to the Prestwick Academy.

Likewise,  McIntyre played football for the Prestwick Boys in defensive positions before wrestling got his attention.

Debut

He debuted in WWE on October 12, 2007, with Dave Taylor against Brett Major and Brian Major. He won his debut match.

You won’t believe that WWE had a different gimmick for him. He was supposed to be a male runway model.

He even lost 25 pounds and cut down to 250 pounds to become a model.

But the love for WWE and wrestling never left his mind, and ultimately he became a professional wrestler rather than a runway model.

Evolve Championship

Drew McIntyre debuted in Evolve Championship by defeating Chris Hero on August 8, 2014. He retained the title by beating Anthony Nese the very next day.

Sadly, he had his first loss at Evolve 33 during a Champion VS Champion match against the DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate Champion Ricochet.

His successful defense as World Champion at Evolve 37 against Ricochet by pinfall helped him rename his title.

Between 4th and 6th April 2015, McIntyre made a series of defenses of the Evolve and DGUSA titles in Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland.

He defeated Marty Scurll, Doug Williams, Joe Hendry, Tron, and Luther valentine during a four-way.

TNA Heavyweight Championship

On March 15, in an episode of impact wrestling, Galloway won his first-ever TNA World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Matt Hardy when Galloway cashed in his feast or fired a briefcase.

The victory made him the first-ever Scottish-born TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He also won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship rematch, defeating Matt Hardy.

Pro Wrestling Guerilla

In August 2015, Galloway competed in the Battle of Los Angeles and debuted in Pro Wrestling Guerilla. Unfortunately, he was eliminated on night two by mike bailey.

Galloway returned to Pro Wrestling Guerilla on January 2, 2016, where he scored his first PWG singles victory over former PWG tag team champion Jack Evans.

Galloway made his winning return to PWG at “prince” on May 20, 2016, by issuing an open challenge and defeating Michael Elgin.

Drew McIntyre: Return to WWE

The wrestler re-signed with WWE and returned as DREW MCINTYRE to perform in its developmental territory NXT.

On April 12, within the episode of NXT, McIntyre made his NXT re-debut by defeating Oney Lorcan.

He defeated Killian Dain and has become the number one contender for the NXT Championship, challenging Bobby Roode at NXT Take Over: Brooklyn III.

He defeated Roode to win the NXT Championship. On the episode of NXT on October 4, McIntyre successfully won NXT Champion’s title against Roderick Strong.

On January 26, 2020, McIntyre won the Royal Rumble match by defeating Roman Reigns, earning himself a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 36.

Within the following night on RAW, McIntyre announced that he chose to challenge Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36.

He won the match against Lesnar and claimed the WWE championship within the main event.

He also won the Money at the event against Seth Rollins.

At the Horror Show at Extreme Rules, he retained the championship against Dolph Ziggler.

On the RAW episode of November 16, McIntyre defeated Randy Orton during a no disqualification match and retained his WWE championship.

The victory gave him the chance to require Randy Orton’s place in the Survivor Series and face Universal Champion Roman Reigns in an inter-band Champion VS Champion match.

On August 28, 2009, he re-debuted on SmackDown.

He entered the ring as a villain by attacking R-Truth and using his new double hook DDT finishing move.

With all the drama that happened in the decade of SmackDown celebration, this leads to the first proper match between Drew McIntyre and R-Truth at the hell in a cell pay-per-view (PPV).

It is where McIntyre defeated R-Truth in under five minutes again by using his DDT finishing move.

On September 18, 2009, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon introduced Drew McIntyre as “The Chosen One” and the future World Champion.
