Afterward, Timothy transitioned over to the solo canoe (C1) class. As a result, from the ages of 14 to 17, he was a member of the US Junior National Team.

Accident

His struggles did not end there, as he shattered his L1 vertebra in his back when running the Potomac River’s Great Falls. As a result, the slalom canoer was unable to walk for three months.
But he finds himself blessed to have survived these accidents. Further, those time away from the water also taught him how much he enjoys paddling.
Comeback
After a four-year break, he returned in the summer of 2006. He competed in the US National Championship in August of the same year, finishing eighth.
Tad finished third in the 2007 USA Canoe/Kayak National Team Trials the following spring.
As a result, he earned a position on the US National Team for the third and last time in the men’s C1 level.
Tad became third in the US Olympic Team Trials at the US National Whitewater Center in 2008, earning him a spot on the US National Team for the third time.
A teammate, Benn Fraker, was selected to compete for the United States in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Besides kayaking, Dennis is currently working as an Air Traffic Controller at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
