Kellie Dawn Pickler was born on June 28, 1986, in the city of Albemarle, in the state of North Carolina. Pickler’s mother left her and her sister when Pickler was only two years old.

As a consequence of this, Kellie’s grandparents were awarded legal custody of her and were responsible for her upbringing until she turned 18 years old.

Pickler received her secondary education at North Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina. She participated in the cheerleading team and the beauty pageant in her school days.

In 2004, she successfully completed her degree requirements and sang “On the Side of Angels” at her graduation ceremony.

After Pickler graduated from college, she began working as a waitress; however, in 2005, she competed in the Mike! Charlotte competition hosted by WSOC-Gimme TV.

Earlier in the same year, she triumphed at the pageant for Miss Stanly County and went on to compete in the Miss North Carolina pageant, where she finished in second place.
