Veteran actress Angela Lansbury has left the world at the age of almost 97. She passed away by natural causes, not by Cancer.

Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury, also known as Angela Lansbury, was an Irish-British-American actress and singer. She had an impressive career spanning film, stage, and television. Her career of eight decades is among the longest in the entertainment industry.

Angela Lansbury Cancer: Her Death Cause Was Natural

Angela Lansbury died in her sleep on October 11, 2022, in Los Angeles, California. She was only five days away from her 97th birthday.

While she did not have Cancer, she had a long struggle with arthritis, a disease she started experiencing in the 1990s. Angela was a chain smoker during her early life, but she overcame the addiction in her 60s.

The actress has had surgery multiple times. She underwent cosmetic surgery on her neck in 1976 and 1987. She also had hip replacement surgery in 1994 and knee replacement surgery in 2005.

In an interview with Closer Weekly, published three months before her death, Angela said that she tried to remain healthy by taking a lot of vitamins and getting enough sleep but had to stop her hobbies like gardening because of her arthritis.

Angela also shared that she struggled to maintain weight but still enjoyed activities like cooking, reading, and completing crossword puzzles.

Angela Lansbury Husband: She Was Married Two Times

Angela Lansbury was married twice. She first married actor Richard Cromwell on September 27, 1945. She eloped with her 16 years older partner, and the two wed in a small civil ceremony. The marriage only lasted a year, and the two divorced in 1946. However, they remained friends until he died in 1960.

In 1949, Angela married actor and producer Peter Shaw. The marriage was long-lasting, and they remained together for 54 years until his passing in 2003.

The British actress acquired David as a stepson from Peter’s first marriage. The couple also had two children, Anthony Peter (b. 1952) and Deirdre Ann (b. 1953).

In the late 1960s, Angela’s sons became involved in the growing counterculture movement and started using recreational drugs. Luckily, they recovered and rehabilitated.

Anthony became a television director and directed over 60 episodes of Murder, She Wrote. Deirdre married a chef, and the two launched a restaurant in Los Angeles. They gave Angela three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren until her death in October 2022.

Angela Lansbury was born Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury to her parents, Moyna and Edgar Lansbury. She was born on October 16, 1925, to an upper-middle-class family in St Pancras, London, England.

Her mother, Moyna, was also from the entertainment field. The Belfast-born actress regularly appeared on stage in the West End and starred in several films.

Her Father, Edgar, was an affluent English timber merchant. He was also a politician, a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain, and a former mayor of Poplar. On the other hand, Edgar’s Father, George Lansbury, was a Labour Party leader and anti-war activist.

Unfortunately, Edgar died from Stomach Cancer when Angela was nine. Facing financial issues as a single mother, Moyna became engaged to a Scottish colonel, Leckie Forbes.

When Angela was four, her mother gave birth to twin boys, Bruce and Edgar Lansbury, and the family moved from their Poplar flat to a House in Mill Hill, North London. Angela also had an older half-sister, Isolde Denham, who was the daughter of Moyna’s previous marriage to Reginald Denham.

Like Angela, all three of her siblings worked in the entertainment scene.

Besides, Angela was a cousin of the animator, writer, and social activist Oliver Postgate and the academic and novelist Coral Lansbury, whose son is former Australian PM, Malcolm Turnbull.

The Lansbury family follows Christianity and has English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh​​ ethnicity.
