UFC veteran and MMA fighter Anthony Rumble Johnson has been fighting an illness and has not been seen in the octagon for over a year.
Anthony Kewoa Johnson, also called “Rumble,” is a mixed martial artist competing for Bellator MMA. He has previously competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Fighting out of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the American athlete currently competes in the light heavyweight division. Anthony is known for his one-punch knockout power.
Johnson holds an impressive pro record of 23 wins against six losses and a UFC record of 13 wins and six losses. The 38-year-old is a two-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger.

During a recent interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Anthony’s manager Ali Abdelaziz revealed that Anthony “Rumble” Johnson was undergoing a serious health problem. However, he did not specify or talk in detail about the illness.

Ali, the Dominance MMA Management CEO, asked everyone to pray for the fighter’s recovery. He added that although Rumble was strong spiritually, he was not well at the moment. He also urged Anthony to stay strong, reminding him that many people love him.
Anthony was set to face Vadim Nemkov at Bellator 268 in October 2021 but withdrew from the bout owing to illness. He has been unable to compete since knocking out Jose Augusto Azevedo Barros under the Bellator MMA banner in May 2021.
In an Instagram post last year, he requested his fans to pray for his recovery, stating that he was afraid and wished he could talk more in detail about what was happening to him. He remained strong with the support of friends and family, he said.
Anthony only clarified that it was not COVID and that he would be back in 2022. His fans and wellwishers rushed to the comment section to express best wishes for his recovery.
An update earlier this year seemed positive, with Anthony returning to physical training and promising a dangerous version of himself when he returns to the cage. His changed and leaner physique showed that the illness likely took a huge toll on him.
However, despite the initial good signs for a comeback during this calendar year, it has not materialized. And his manager’s recent message has now given a troubling update on Anthony’s health condition.
After the long-fought battle with the undisclosed health issue, it appears his 2022 comeback has been canceled. Born on March 6, 1984, Anthony is currently 38.

Anthony looked up to his grandparents and considered them heroes, along with the football player Walter Payton.
He graduated from West Laurens High School before enrolling on a wrestling scholarship at Lassen College in Susanville, California, where he won the junior college national championship.
Anthony worked as a bouncer after receiving his degree from college before deciding to pursue mixed martial arts at the age of 20 on the recommendation of a friend.
