Actor Vaemond Velaryon Death Cause: House Velaryon History And Family Tree

Actor Vaemond Velaryon dies in the House of the Dragon episode 8. Let us find out about actor Vaemond Velaryon death cause. More on House Velaryon History.

The battle for the Iron Throne has become much clearer now that the House of the Dragon has traveled even further in time due to Vaemond Velaryon’s involvement in the conflict between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Queen Alicent.

Furthermore, the most recent episode of the series built up an epic ending with the loudest allegations from Laenor’s uncle — and her new husband, Daemon Targaryen, got the last say.

Rhaenyra has been troubled by doubts regarding the parentage of her children with Laenor Velaryon.

The boys of Rhaenyra Targaryen were Ser Harwin Strong’s children, contrary to popular belief even before the first episode of the series aired.

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros never ceased talking about Ser Strong’s Rhaenyra’s children, even after they were ultimately killed in a not-so-mysterious instance of arson in the previous episode.

Ser Strong also served as the Hand of the King. And when one of them is chosen as the heir to Driftmark, a prominent member of House Velaryon feels left out.

Who Is Actor Vaemond Velaryon In The House of The Dragon?

Ser Vaemond Velaryon is the younger brother of Lord Corlys Velaryon in the House of the dragon.

The Velaryons are possibly the second-most important family in House of the Dragon, behind the Targaryens. While the Targaryens are seated on the Iron Throne, the Velaryons govern the tides.

The ancient House Velaryon, with roots in Westeros stretching back to Old Valyria, is one of the Targaryens’ most dependable allies.

However, there are times when they clash, as seen in the argument between Lord Corlys and King Viserys I over Corlys’ rejection of the Viserys’ daughter.

In the water and on the battlefield, Corlys Velaryon, the ruler of Driftmark, is known as the Sea Snake. Still, his younger brother, actor Vaemond Velaryon (Wil Johnson), serves on his council.

However, being the second child, Corlys has no genuine claim to the seat of Driftmark when he suffers a catastrophic injury in battle.

We know that Corlys desires his grandson, Lucerys, son of Rhaenyra and Laenor, to succeed him, but without formally designating him as his heir, someone else may assert their claim.

While Corlys’ brother, actor Vaemond Velaryon (Wil Johnson), thinks he should be the heir, Corlys’ wife, Rhaenys, currently occupies the Driftwood Throne and may become accustomed to it.

Due to the disagreement, everyone congregates in King’s Landing to decide who will succeed Corlys as Lord of the Tides.

Since this is Westeros, there will be charges and bloodshed when Actor Vaemond Velaryon, Rhaenyra, and Rhaenys present their cases. Viserys concludes that Lucerys will continue to be Corlys’ heir.

That’s not fully accurate, though. Then Vaemond makes a spectacle about Viserys’ choice and denounces Rhaenyra and her boys, even going so far as to brand the princess a whore. Daemon quickly decapitates Vaemond.

Vaemond’s head was chopped off cleanly by Daemon, who added, “He(Vaemond) can keep his tongue.” Fans of House of the Dragon live for moments like Daemon shockingly and unexpectedly slicing off Vaemond’s head. Therefore there were many Twitter responses from viewers praising Daemon.

House Velaryon History And Family Tree

The succession of Driftmark was discussed in 126 AC when Lord Corlys Velaryon, the Lord of the Tides, developed a severe fever and became quite ill.

Laena and Laenor, Corlys’ twin daughters, had passed away six years before. The three sons and two daughters of Laenor were still alive.

However, Lord Corlys’ eldest nephew, Vaemond, insisted that he be chosen as Corlys’ successor, asserting that Laenor’s three sons were not even her children and that their mother, Rhaenyra Targaryen, had committed adultery. (This would have also conveniently ignored that Laena’s daughters still stood ahead of him in the line of succession.)

Rhaenyra responded by sending her new husband, Prince Daemon, to capture Ser Vaemond. She cut off his head, then gave Syrax, her dragon, the body.

After hearing the stories about Rhaenyra’s three sons by Laenor, King Viserys I Targaryen cut off the mouths of his five younger relatives.
