Brandin Cooks is an American football wide receiver who plays in the National Football League (NFL) for the Houston Texans.

He played college football for Oregon State, where he was named a unanimous All-American. The New Orleans Saints selected him in the opening round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Cooks spent one season with the New England Patriots and two seasons for the Los Angeles Rams after spending three seasons with New Orleans before joining the Texans in 2020.

Brandin and a fourth-round draft pick in 2022 were dealt to the Houston Texans on April 10, 2020, in exchange for their second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, which they eventually used to select Van Jefferson.

Cooks signed a two-year agreement with the Texans on April 7, 2022, for $39.6 million, with $36 million guaranteed, defying several trade rumors.

Brandin Cooks Illness And Health Update

Brandin Cooks is not ill in November 2022. However, Cooks is believed to have injured his wrist. He was also out of the practice of House Texans on Tuesday.

Cooks was classified as having a wrist ailment and missed practice on Tuesday for what head coach Lovie Smith said were personal reasons.

He now leads the Texans in receiving yards with 354 and has made 32 receptions. The 29-year-old has astonishingly amassed 1,000 yards in a season for each side he has ever played for.

Cooks was also out of practice in December 2021. It was believed that Brandin was out due to Covid, but his illness was non-covid.

Cooks missed two days of practice due to a non-COVID-19 sickness before returning to the team in the same month. He was present and played the Texans’ WR1 position as normal.

In 11 games in 2021, the 28-year-old caught 62 catches for 704 yards and three scores. Cooks is a reliable fantasy WR2 versus the Colts and owns 28.2% of the team’s targets. In the December 2021 FantasyPros expert consensus rankings, the former first-round choice is ranked 23rd among wide receivers.

Is Houston Texans WR Brandin Cooks Playing Today?

Brandin Cooks is questionable in today’s game due to his wrist injury. He participated fully in practice even though his name wasn’t on the report until Friday. Cooks has the most catches on the squad this year with 24 catches.

The Houston Texans have released their second injury report of the year ahead of their Week 9 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football at NRG Stadium on November 3.

Brandin Cooks was listed as a non-participant. Rasheem Green, a defensive lineman for the Texans, was added to the practice report due to a knee injury. He had restrictions and a dubious categorization.

Defense lineman Maliek Collins’ chest injury, offensive lineman Justin McCray’s hand injury, offensive lineman Kenyon Green’s shoulder injury, offensive lineman A.J. Cann’s illness, and receiver Nico Collins’ groin injury are also doubtful.

Texans Decide Not To Trade WR Brandin Cooks

Brandin Cooks seemed to be headed for history, yet he continues to play for the Houston Texans. Despite conversations, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Cooks will stay with the Texans after Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.

Cooks’ name had been mentioned frequently as a potential transfer target before Tuesday, and based on a cryptic tweet he wrote just after the deadline passed, he does not appear to be happy about staying with the 1-5-1 Texans.

The wide receiver would have been dealt for a career-high fourth time if he had been traded. In NFL history, only running back Eric Dickerson, now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has been traded four times.

Cooks’ guaranteed salary for 2023 might have been a stumbling block in a trade. Cooks, whose guaranteed base salary for this season was $1.16 million, will earn an $18 million base salary in 2019.
