“Coy Gibbs (co-owner) passed away in his sleep yesterday night, as confirmed by Joe Gibbs Racing with deep grief,” the”team said in a statement posted just before the start of the NASCAR season finale. The family appreciates all of the well-wishes and prayers and requests privacy now.”
