Nairo Alexander Quintana Rojas was born on February 4, 1990, in Combita. It is a town near the capital of Boyaca, Tunja, in Colombia.

Currently, the player resides in Pamplona in Navarre. Actually, he splits his stay between his native country Combita and Pamplona.
