Hamza Ahmed Yassin was born on February 22, 1990. Currently 34, he was born in Sudan and moved to Northampton, England, at eight.
He was diagnosed as dyslexic as a teenager and received support in his studies. He earned a degree in Zoology with Conservation, an Honorary Master’s degree from Bangor University, and a Master’s degree in Biological Photography and Imaging from the University of Nottingham.
The talented cameraman moved to the Scottish Highlands at 21 to study the local wildlife and develop his career.
Hamza Yassin is of the black race and has talked about his struggles with racism. “As a young black man, I have been through my fair share of racism throughout my life and have overcome it. But things have to change; we must educate each other,” he once shared.

Hamza Yassin is partnered with professional Polish ballroom dancer Jowita Prystal on Strictly Come Dancing 2022.
When paired up with Jowita, Hamza said: “I was just ecstatic that she’s shorter than me. You know, that’s my thing. I’m a short dude!” He added that he was over the moon as Jowita is a beautiful soul. He praised her for her direct nature.
Jowita and her partner Michael Danilczuk have represented their country Poland in several national and international competitions.
They became Polish Open Latin Champions in 2014. Besides, the duo has performed in Broadway musical productions such as Legally Blonde, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and Rock of Ages.
Jowita and Michael moved from Poland to London in 2019 to pursue a career in the United Kingdom. Subsequently, they appeared on The Greatest Dancer 2020, where they were crowned winners.
The prize included £50,000 cash and an opportunity to perform on the next series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. And Jowita joined the nineteenth series of the show as a professional in 2021.
