Chad Patrick Kelly is an American professional gridiron football quarterback for the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts. 

He redshirted his first year at Clemson. He appeared in five games as a freshman in 2013; he passed for 58 yards and rushed for 117 yards with a touchdown. 

He signed with the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts on February 11, 2022.

According to Daniel Paulling of the Clarion-Ledger, Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly underwent surgery last week to treat a sports hernia and torn ACL.

“In Saturday’s game against Georgia Southern, Ole Miss senior quarterback Chad Kelly tore his ACL and lateral meniscus.” This week, he will have season-ending surgery.”

Kelly had to rehab his way back to pro-day readiness after suffering a torn ACL last season. Rapoport reported that he was cleared for a script of 35-45 pro-day throws the previous week.

On Saturday, Kelly was replaced by freshman Jason Pellerin, who completed one of five passes for 19 yards.

Kelly will miss the rest of spring workouts, but the injury isn’t anticipated to keep him out long or prevent him from playing in the team’s first game against Florida State on September 5, according to Paulling.

Former Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly has signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League, the team announced on Friday.

Kelly had a brief NFL career after being drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2017. He stayed in Denver for two seasons before joining the Indianapolis Colts for the 2019-2020 season.

The quarterback also spent two years at Ole Miss, but he is best known for his 2015 season when he helped lead the Rebels to an Allstate Sugar Bowl victory. 

Kelly threw over 4,000 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2015 while rushing for over 500 yards. He was also the first Ole Miss quarterback to defeat Alabama, LSU, and Auburn in the same season.

Was Chad Kelly Arrested? Third-Degree Assault Details

Ole Miss commitment According to The Buffalo News’ Joseph Popiolkowski and Keith McShea, Chad Kelly was arrested early Sunday and faces charges including third-degree assault, second-degree harassment, second-degree menacing, and resisting arrest.

The quarterback also mentioned his trespassing arrest while playing for the Denver Broncos.

According to The Buffalo News, the charges stem from a reported fight between Kelly and bouncers at a downtown Buffalo bar:

Kelly, 20, of Niagara Falls, allegedly refused to leave Encore at 492 Pearl St. around 3:15 am and punched a bouncer.

Kelly’s companion, Brandon Hickey, 21, of Clarence, had previously been thrown out of the bar and attempted to re-enter, according to Police.

According to a report, Kelly continued to fight with two bouncers and declared, “I’m going to go to my car and get my AK-47 and spray this place.”
