In round one of the 2022 NRL season, Vaughan made his Canterbury club debut in a 6-4 win against North Queensland at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Following coach Trent Barrett’s dismissal, journalists scolded Vaughan for abusing the media despite being explicitly told not to do so by general manager Phil Gould.

On June 22, Vaughan agreed to terms with English club Warrington for a two-year contract beginning in 2023. Vaughan played his 200th first-grade game in Canterbury’s round 20 wins over Newcastle.
