James Bouknight Jailed: Where Is He Now?
No, James Bouknight is not in jail. He was released with a bond of $2,500. However, he is scheduled to appear in court in November.
At around 1:51 am on October 16, 2022, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested James for driving while intoxicated (DWI) after being found unconscious in a parking deck around 12:44 am.
Police say they responded to reports that someone was unconscious in his vehicle in a parking lot and blocking traffic early Sunday. Officers reportedly attempted to awaken James for approximately an hour using a public address system, lights, and air horns blasting.
After coming back to consciousness, James refused to follow the commands, moved his car, and hit two Police cars. Finally, he complied with the orders and exited the vehicle when arrested.
He was detained with a Glock 23, a 40MM pistol, and Doritos in his car. However, as it is legal in North Carolina, he was not accused of possessing a handgun.
A breathalyzer test confirmed his blood-alcohol content was 0.14, exceeding North Carolina’s legal limit of 0.08. James revealed having approximately four tequila shots before driving home.
Aftermath For James Bouknight
After setting his bond at $2,500, the Police released James Bouknight, and he returned to practice the following day.
However, he did not talk to the press. His coach Steve Clifford also avoided the topic in front of reporters, saying that the case is under investigation and he cannot comment.
Jame’s criticism is inevitable since the season is about to start, and the franchise is without its star player, LaMelo Ball. The absence of LaMelo means that James is likely to occupy a prominent place and leadership in the team in the early games.
It was not his first time getting in trouble with the law. He previously had multiple speeding and reckless driving offenses. James is set to appear in court three times in November and December for all his misdemeanors.
