Frank Vogel is an American professional basketball coach. He previously held the head coach position for the National Basketball Association’s Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic, and Indiana Pacers (NBA).

Vogel was a starter for the Division III basketball team at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.
Vogel made a transfer to the University of Kentucky in 1994. During the 1994–95 season, Vogel managed the men’s squad for the Kentucky Wildcats under head coach Rick Pitino.
The school’s junior varsity squad was revived by Pitino for the next season, and Vogel played for them. In 1998, Vogel earned a B.S. in biology from Kentucky.

Under the leadership of head coach Rick Pitino, Vogel started his career as the Boston Celtics’ chief video coordinator. Before getting promoted to assistant coach in the 2001–02 season, he held onto that post for five years.
Vogel worked as a coach for Boston before joining the Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant. From 2005 to 2006 and from 2006 to 2007, Vogel worked as an advance scout for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Washington Wizards.
In 2007, Vogel joined Jim O’Brien’s Indiana Pacers as an assistant. O’Brien was a former Celtics teammate of Vogel’s.
