Mark Ingram Knee Injury: Is New Orleans Saints RB Playing Today?

On the projected practice report from Monday, Mark Ingram was categorized as limited. So, there is no designation for Mark Ingram for Arizona’s game today.

Ingram will be available to the Saints offensive Week 7 despite being sidelined Monday through Wednesday due to a knee problem, as he has been for all six games this season. 

Overall, Ingram averages nine touches, 36.3 yards from scrimmage, and one touchdown per game. However, Alvin Kamara will probably start in Ingram’s place out of the backfield for the third straight game.

Ingram is one of four Saints skill-position players who have played in the team’s six games this season. Based on the weekly personnel, Ingram has averaged between 22 and 47 percent of the offensive snaps and five to 13 touches each game. 

Overall, he averages just over 4.0 yards per rush and has one touchdown, but the previous two games have seen Alvin Kamara overshadow him.

Mark Ingram is physically not fit. He received a knee injury against the Vikings. Ingram carried the ball ten times for 30 yards during the Vikings’ 28-25 defeat on Sunday. For a total of 13 yards, he made three receptions.

According to Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans, Ingram missed a portion of the second half and was seen in the injury tent before spending time in the locker room.

In Alvin Kamara’s absence, he nevertheless managed to make a comeback and force an almost equal share of carries with Latavius Murray.

Even in the absence of an injury, the Saints seem reluctant to fully rely on Ingram in the backfield as he has amassed ten carries in each of the two games Kamara has been absent from this year.

Ingram was the first Alabama player to win the Heisman Trophy after rushing for 1,658 yards in 2009 to the 2010 BCS National Championship while playing college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Saints selected Ingram in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was nominated for three Pro Bowls while playing for the Saints and held the record for most rushing yards. Ingram has previously played for the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens.

Ingram was returned to the New Orleans Saints for a pick in the seventh round of the 2024 draft on October 29, 2021. He concluded the 2021 season with 27 receptions for 162 receiving yards, 160 carries for 554 running yards and two rushing touchdowns.
