Jackson was created in the New York City borough of Staten Island. She is of African American and Afro-Honduran ancestry. When she was younger, she worked as a child model for well-known brands, such as Band-Aid, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Old Navy.

Jackson would reprise her role as Zuri Ross in the Disney Channel spinoff series Bunk’d come in 2015, following the conclusion of Jessie. The first episode of Bunk aired on July 31, 2015, and she left the show after the third season in 2018.
