Lars Nootbaar is a professional baseball player born on May 22, 1997, in El Segundo, California. He is an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals playing in the Major League Baseball (MLB) and Japan’s national team. Shortly after he graduated from El Segundo High School, he started playing baseball at the University of Southern California.

In the eighth round of the 2018 MLB Draft, the St. Louis Cardinals drafted Nootbaar, who played his first-ever game as the team’s rookie-level affiliate in the Gulf Coast League. He played  Single-A affiliate for the Cardinals in Peoria, Illinois, in 2019 and 115 games, he captured .252 pts, including 11 home runs and 56 RBIs.

Nootbaar played only the first half of the 2021-2022 season at the Cardinals’ alternate practice facility before being drafted to  Triple-A East Memphis Redbirds. On May 28, he landed a hand injury, so he was kept captivated and was finally called up on June 14. 

Before the promotion, he displayed impressive performance with  a.329/.430/.557 slash line, five home runs and 17 RBIs in 22 games. He debuted as the team’s primary left outfielder when he faced the Detroit Tigers. Nootbaar secured his first professional career triple hit the following day.

He scored his first professional home run as a pinch-hitter in a 7-6 victory versus the Pirates of Pittsburgh on August 12. The next day, Nootbaar captured another pinch-hit home run against the Kansas City Royals in a 6-0 win. 

On August 25, he recorded his first professional walk-off as he singled in the 10th inning against Tigers relief pitcher Michael Fulmer. He had five home runs and 15 RBIs in 109 at-bats in the 2021 season.

Nigel Nootbaar is the cousin of present-day major-league baseball player Lars Nootbar, a former professional baseball player. Nigel Nootbaar was born in El Segundo, California, on May 6, 1992.

Nigel graduated from The University of Southern California (USC), and  Baltimore Orioles drafted him during the 12th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. 

Lars Nootbaar, Nigel’s younger brother, played college baseball at USC and in the 2018 MLB Draft, the St. Louis Cardinals selected him. He made his senior baseball debut in the 2021-2022 season.

Throughout his 1st- and 2nd-year amature seasons, he was the regular starter but moved from starter for his junior seasons. Nigel averaged a 2.93 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 27.2 innings tossed as a senior at USC. His dedication to the game paid off; his name was on the All-Pac-12 honorary mention.

 For the 2014 season, he received a call from Baltimore Orioles to play there for three seasons at a minor league level. He also played for the Aberdeen IronBirds, Delmarva Shorebirds, Frederick Keys, Bowie Baysox, and other clubs at different levels.

In 2019 he suffered from a vital injury, finally causing him to quit baseball. But his love for the sport never faded away so. He is currently working as a pitching instructor and coach in Southern California,

In 2017, he competed in the Arizona Fall League. It is an experimental league for young elite talents.
