Is Bad Bunny In Jail?

No, Pop musician, Bad Bunny is not in jail but is in protests against government corruption.

He enraged a crowd of audience members in San Juan a week before the FBI detained former governor Wanda Vazquez on suspicion of bribery.

Likewise, he called out the current governor and the island’s private power provider in an expletive-filled rant. 

The 28-year-old performer expressed the emotions of many Puerto Ricans by telling the crowd, “We have a government over us that messes up our lives.” At the sold-out event on July 28, he declared, “The country belongs to us, and we are the ones in control.”

 He also sang “El Apagon,” or “The Blackout,” an ode to the US territory’s frequent power shortages. His statement whipped up a frenzy in the crowded arena.

What Did Bad Bunny Do? 

The large anti-government protests sponsored by Bad Bunny and other artists caused another former governor to resign as Puerto Rico tramples on the brink of another political catastrophe nearly five years after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island.

When questioned about Bad Bunny’s criticism of his administration days after the event, Pierluisi praised what he claimed were his administration’s achievements during the epidemic. 

According to local media reports, he explained it was in combating crime and improving infrastructure and education but said nothing further.

Additionally, Pierluisi stated that his administration “will continue to oversee” LUMA Energy, the private American-Canadian partnership in charge of running the island’s power transmission and distribution network as of June 2021.

Following Bad Bunny’s outburst during the event, LUMA released news expressing its sympathy for “all our customers’ unhappiness with the dependability of Puerto Rico’s electric infrastructure, which has been weakened by years.

“LUMA is working every day to create a brighter future for all Puerto Ricans, including Bad Bunny, who deserve a first-rate electricity system,” the company claims.

What Activism Is Bad Bunny Included In?

Bad Bunny started the Good Bunny Foundation, and it gives toys to kids in Puerto Rico who live in poverty.

He was nominated in the “Humanitarian Award of the Year” category for Telemundo’s first Premios Tu Msica Urbano in 2019. In support of LGBT rights, Bad Bunny denounced a reggaeton musician named Don Omar’s bigoted comment.

When he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in February 2020, he drew attention to the incident “They Killed Alexa. Not a Man in a Skirt.”, referring to press articles that misrepresented the victim’s gender.

Due to his outspoken support of homosexual and transgender Latinos and his adoration of drag culture, Ricky Martin has claimed that Bad Bunny “has become an icon for the Latin LGBT community.”
