Carrie Ann Inaba Illness: Lyme Disease Update
Carrie Ann Inaba has been open about her struggle with Lyme Disease. Her health issues have come to common knowledge after she decided to take a step back from The Talk.
Speaking with Yahoo! Life, Carrie shared how she began experiencing chronic pain while working as a judge on Season 4 of Dancing With the Stars in 2007. At the time, she had to come to terms with the fact that her body was changing. She admitted feeling shame for looking presentable but dealing with a different reality.
Since taking a break from The Talk in August 2021, the former judge has become even more in tune with herself. She disclosed that she is currently taking treatment for Lyme disease, a vector-borne ailment associated with symptoms like fever, headaches, fatigue, and rashes.
The 54-year-old TV personality joined the CBS daytime talk show cast in the fall of 2019 as the moderator. In the spring of 2021, her co-host Sheryl Underwood shared that Carrie was taking a leave of absence to focus on her health and well-being.
The former pro dancer is not new to health issues. In earlier years, she had been open about her battle with multiple autoimmune diseases and health issues, like lupus, fibromyalgia, and Sjögren’s syndrome.
The fans have been highly supportive of her and turned to her Instagram to keep up with her recovery journey. Upon hearing more about Carrie’s journey with autoimmune diseases, which she calls “invisible illness,” fans and well-wishers rushed to her Instagram comments section with heartfelt messages and best wishes.
Many expressed thankfulness for sharing her story and raising awareness, while others encouraged her to keep fighting and inspiring like always.
Despite her health issues, Carrie is feeling better these days and continues to share her status. “I’m more well now than I’ve been in my life, even maybe when I was in my 20s,” she shared with the publication. She added that she had gained more consciousness about maintaining wellness.

Carrie Ann Inaba was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. Her parents are Rodney Y. Inaba and Patty Inaba.
Born on January 5, 1968, Carrie is currently 54. She is an American national of Irish, Japanese, and Chinese descent.
She graduated from Punahou School in 1986 and attended Sophia University and the University of California, Irvine. She then obtained a B.A. degree in world arts and culture from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Carrie was always into dancing. Her first dance instruction was in a “creative movement” class when she was three. Children danced on their own with scarves in the class. As a child, she danced in her backyard that overlooked the Pacific Ocean.
