Catherine Kasavuli was a Kenyan news anchorwoman. Kasavuli was the country’s first female news anchor, and she had previously worked for The Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), Citizen Television, and Kenya Television Network (KTN).

Kasavuli began her career as a radio continuity announcer in 1980 at the Voice of Kenya, later called KBC.

Her uncle, who had overheard her reading the Bible and praying over supper, encouraged her to apply for the job. She was only 18 years old at the time. Kasavuli later moved to television at the corporation in 1985.

Kasavuli has no prior professional experience and attended the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication two years into her career.

Catherine joined the founding staff of KTN, the country’s first privately owned television network, in March 1990. She was the station’s first live broadcast anchor, a departure from the prior pre-recorded style. Kasavuli would voice ads and be a TV presenter to support her income.

According to KBC acting MD Samuel Maina, Catherine Kasavuli, a veteran TV news anchor, died at 60 at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Kasavuli was a cancer patient admitted to the KNH private wing on October 26, 2022.

She died while being treated for cervical cancer at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to Wikipedia, she has been in the hospital for more than three months and has been receiving therapy since October 2022.

Her media business pals rallied people to donate blood for an emergency transfusion when she was hospitalized at Kenyatta National Hospital in late October with cervical cancer.

Following her death from cancer, a close friend in the media sent condolences to her family via Twitter.

Her family knew of her death on the evening of December 29, but the public learned of it just this morning.

Catherine Kasavuli Cause Of Death Explored

Cervical Cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed Cancer and the fourth highest cause of cancer death in women worldwide, even though it is a preventable disease.

Kasavuli was becoming weaker by the day due to the condition, and physicians advised his family to take care of her in any manner they could.

Unfortunately, she did not survive the night, but her family surrounded her.

Her family frequently visited her, and her colleagues were present more often to be with her during her difficult period. Martin is Kasavuli’s only child.

On the other hand, her son Martin was there for her and was frequently present to support and battle her cancer.

Kasavuli’s funeral will likely be held shortly, and relatives and friends will gather.

Kasavuli has been the TV queen since the 1980s due to her essential influence in Kenyan media.

She was one of the first anchors to host a live television program for a TV station in the 1990s before retiring.

Kasavuli studied at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) in 1982, where she honed her journalistic abilities before landing a job as an anchor at KTN in 1990.

Kasavuli joined Royal Media Services (RSM) in 2007 as a news anchor and corporate relations manager after a successful spell at KTN.
