Eric Kay is a former staff member with the Major League Baseball (MLB) side Los Angeles Angels.

Eric, raised in an upper-middle-class family in Southern California, graduated with a Bachelor’s in PR from Pepperdine University. He started his career by interning for the NFL side LA Rams and the NHL team Anaheim Ducks.

Eric Kay is a married man, and his wife is Camela Kay. However, the marriage has been tumultuous since Eric admitted to his criminal offense.

UniCourt reports that Mrs. Kay filed for marriage dissolution/ divorce on June 11, 2020, in Orange County Superior Courts in Orange, California. The Judge overseeing this case is Nathan Vu, but they have not yet classified or finalized the case.

Erica and Camila have three sons. Their middle child Carter is 20, while the youngest one is 12. Carter once said during the sentencing hearing that his Father “wouldn’t do something bad willingly” and requested the Judge to be lenient, saying that his little brother needed his dad most.

The mother of Eric Kay is Sandy Kay, while his Father is no more. Sandy once shared that her son had been abusing opioids after his dad passed away in 1998. He was on treatment for substance abuse twice.

Sandy defended Eric, saying it is a great injustice to hold him accountable for the willful decision made by an adult that Tyler Skaggs was.

Eric Kay is now in jail as he was convicted of supplying the drugs involved in the overdose and death of Tyler Skaggs on July 1, 2019. The former Los Angeles Angels staffer was sentenced to 22 years for providing the lethal fentanyl drugs to the Angels pitcher.

A report said that a toxic mix of alcohol, fentanyl, and oxycodone was in the 27-year-old’s system, and he had choked to death on his vomit.

Eric, 48, faced at least 20 years in prison on one count of drug distribution resulting in death and drug conspiracy. Another count and two more years were added for his derogatory comments on Skaggs, his family, jurors, and prosecutors in phone calls and emails.

The trial heard the testimony from five MLB players who said they received oxycodone pills from Eric Kay many times from 2017 to 2019. Kay also used drugs himself, per court documents and testimony.

Tyler Skaggs is survived by his mother, Debbie Hetman, and wife, Carli Miles.
