His mother teaches literature and Latin, and his Father works in a bank. The family’s roots are lost abroad: the great-grandparents came from Switzerland and Montenegro, respectively. 

Ernia grew up in Milan’s QT8 district (an acronym he also has tattooed on his ankle), but he began rapping between San Siro and Bonola. He co-founded Troupe D’Elite with fellow hip-hop artists Ghali, Maite, and producer Fawzi.

When he returned to Italy, he made his solo debut with the album “Come uccidere un usignolo,” named after a literal translation of Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird. His second studio album, 68, debuted at number one on the FIMI Italian Albums Chart a year later.

Don Joe collaborated on the production of the Troupe D’Elite EP, which was released in June of the same year. In the meantime, Ernia released New Generation Rap Boss Mixtape as a solo artist in September 2013, a mixtape of 7 tracks edited, recorded, and mixed by Charlie Charles.
