Jack, 31, and his friend Callan Sinclair, 25, were accused of the rape of a 19-year-old female after meeting her in a North Wollongong nightclub in December 2018.

In early May 2022, the pair were found not guilty on one charge related to the alleged sexual assault. No verdict was reached on five other charges. It was the second jury on the charges against the pair, and there will not be a third trial.

The woman claimed she was attacked by Jack and then cried as the men took turns sexually assaulting her. The two accused pleaded not guilty and maintained innocence throughout the proceedings, saying they had a consensual encounter.

The ongoing case caused Jack to be banned from playing under the NRL’s no-fault stand-down policy. He is now free to continue his footy career and has played his first game since September 2020. He was back after 968 days.

NRL Chief Executive Andrew Abdo has clarified that the league would not tolerate abuse or defamation of de Belin. He mentioned that it will always protect and support its players.
