The reason behind his suicide was not depression, according to Anna. She revealed to Nfl.com that her husband was on the wrong medication.

Orbin began using a new blood pressure medicine a year prior to his suicide. Days later, he began acting strangely. Orbin’s actions resulted in him using a huge butcher knife to barricade himself inside a restroom.

Orbin recovered after spending a week at a mental health facility and switching back to his regular medicines. His doctor gave him a new blood pressure prescription a year later.

Orbin started acting in a way that Anna recognized from a year earlier, giving Anna a sense of déjà vu.

Orbin had pledged to visit a psychiatrist the morning before the suicide. Without knowing that Orbin possessed a spare key, Anna secured his gun in a lockbox out of concern for his safety. Jordan’s father made up an excuse to go home after dropping Jordan’s sister off at Jordan’s game.

He revealed that his darkest moment was the day it happened, just hearing about it right there in the car. Jordan further added that it helps to know that his father didn’t suffer from depression.

Jordan Love Nearly Gave Up Football

The first 14 years of Jordan’s life were spent tethered to his father’s hip.

By duct-taping Jordan’s shoes to the pedals, Orbin showed him how to ride a bike. He agreed to serve as Jordan’s team’s assistant coach so he could keep track of Jordan’s development. As Orbin handled the warm-up at home, Jordan rarely warmed up with his teammates.

When Orbin went away, Jordan was far from being a finished footballing specimen. Jordan was unable to contain his emotions, despite the family’s best efforts to move on.

According to thenetline.com, Jordan used to tell his mother that he wanted to quit football.

Jordan was persuaded to continue playing the sport for another year by Anna, who had more faith in him than he did.

If Anna hadn’t stepped in, Jordan might have played in the NBA instead of the NFL.

Jordan acknowledged that he believed he would succeed before the end of the year.
