According to his daughter, the family flew Jordan to Moscow, Russia, in January 2020. Pneumonia was detected in both his lungs, and they had to put him into a medically induced coma for eight days. He spent four weeks in the intensive care unit (ICU).

After his treatment in Russia, Jordan made his first public appearance in over a year when he appeared on his daughter’s podcast in June 2020. He said he was back to his regular self. He also wanted to warn people about the dangers of the long-term use of benzodiazepines.

In August 2020, Jordan contracted COVID-19 during his hospital stay in Serbia. Two months later, he posted a YouTube video to let his viewers know that he had returned home and intended to resume work soon.

Jordan Is Not The Only One In His Family With Health Issues

Jordan Peterson is Walter and Beverley Peterson’s son. He married Tammy Roberts, a former massage therapist & foster parent, in 1989.

They have two children: Mikhaila, a daughter, and Julian, a son.

In 2019, Jordan’s wife, Tammy, was diagnosed with rare Kidney Cancer. Fortunately, she survived the Cancer after two surgeries.

Likewise, his daughter, Mikhaila, had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. She had to undergo a hip and ankle replacement at 17 years of age. She was also a patient with chronic fatigue and depression.

The food blogger adopted a diet that she calls “the lion diet,” comprising beef, lamb, salt, and water, which she believes helped lessen the adverse impact of her multiple disorders.

In 2018, Jordan went on a strict diet and stopped eating everything besides beef, salt, and water. By April of that year, he went on the ‘lion diet’ (salt, water, and meat) and found it cured his depression, anxiety, fatigue, GERD, psoriasis, floaters in his right eye, and gum disease.

He started this diet after he found it to be having an impact on his daughter.

In July of that year, Jordan appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, a famous podcast. He explained how watching his daughter’s health transformation had encouraged him to change his diet, ultimately leading him to exclude everything except meat.

The diet was so strict that any deviation from it was “absolutely catastrophic.” Jordan claimed that he didn’t sleep that month for 25 days. One surgery expert described it as a “terribly, terribly bad idea.”
