Shania Twain said in a new Netflix documentary that she would frequently “blackout” on stage during live gigs due to Lyme disease, a tick-borne illness, and worried she would never sing again.
Twain previously told TODAY that after being diagnosed with the vocal chord condition in 2011, she felt her career was gone.

The 56-year-old Canadian country music diva has previously spoken up about her Lyme disease diagnosis and how it has affected her vocal cords.
She claims she became sick while on tour for her breakthrough album “Up!” The time took place between September 2003 and July 2004.
After contracting Lyme disease, Twain stated that her voice was “never the same again,” and she struggled to control her airflow. “I assumed I’d lost my voice for good. I figured that put an end to it,” Twain said.
She stated that she had several “invasive” throat surgeries and that, while she eventually recovered her voice, it was not the same.
But, according to Twain, she did not give up, and with the encouragement of fellow musicians such as Lionel Richie and David Foster, she eventually returned to music.
