Etchingham, the daughter of Dublin-born Charles Etchingham, was born in Derby. When Kathy was ten years old, her mother abandoned the family, and she was enrolled at the Holy Faith Catholic boarding school in Skerries, Dublin.

She ultimately found her way to London after being taken from the convent by her mother and returning to England.

Etchingham worked as a hairdresser and DJ in London, first at The Cromwellian in Kensington and then at the Scotch of St James in Mason’s Yard.

She was familiar with several of the up-and-coming bands of the time, including The Move, The Animals, The Who, The Kinks, and The Moody Blues. In the middle of the 1960s, these bands became known in the US as the British Invasion.

Does Jimi Hendrix Have Kids?

Although there have been some disagreements regarding the validity of these reports, Hendrix is thought to have fathered two children.

One of them is the Swedish musician James Sundquist, who in 1994 filed a claim against his father’s fortune after Swedish courts recognized him as Hendrix’s legitimate son in 1975.

Along with Sundquist, Tamika Hendrix has also reportedly been identified as Hendrix’s illegitimate child; however, no paternity test has been performed, and her mother’s request to inherit some of the money was turned down in 1972.

Hendrix isn’t believed to have married or been close to marriage at any point in his brief life, but several women who have been depicted in biopics seem to have been his most significant partners.

These claimed pregnancies were with women Hendrix encountered on the road.

Hendrix dated English hairstylist Kathy Etchingham for the longest period.

In The Scotch of St. James nightclub on the night of Hendrix’s arrival in London, on September 24, 1966, Etchingham, then 20 years old, encountered Jimi Hendrix.

At the time of his ascent to fame, they started dating. Etchingham served as the inspiration for several of Hendrix’s works, including “The Wind Cries Mary,” according to her website.

However, various biographies have suggested groupies made up a number of Hendrix’s ‘girlfriends’, suggesting he had quite a number of them in his life.

Despite this, he did not have children with any of these women before his death in 1970.

Jimi Hendrix Family: Parents And Origin

It’s interesting to note that Hendrix has both Irish and African American ancestry. He was conceived by Lucille Jeter and James Allen Hendrix, also known as Al.

He had a challenging upbringing and occasionally resided in the homes of family members or friends. Hendrix was born while his mother, Lucille, was just 17 years old.

She and his father, Al, had a tumultuous relationship, and after the pair produced their sons Leon and Joseph and two more children together, she eventually left the family. Before his mother passed away in 1958, Hendrix hardly saw her.

When And How Did Jimi Hendrix Die?

On September 18, 1970, Jimi Hendrix passed away at the young age of just 27.

Jimi Hendrix was lying down on the floor, breathing but unconscious, and was found by his then-partner in her apartment at the Samarkand Hotel, 22, in Notting Hill, London.

Hendrix was pronounced dead at St. Mary Abbots Hospital after she requested an ambulance.

After the post-mortem revealed that Jimi had essentially choked on his own vomit while suffering from barbiturates.

When the appropriate quantity was only half a tablet, Dannemann disclosed that Hendrix had taken nine of the sleeping pills she had been prescribed.

Conspiracy theories have been sparked by a number of discrepancies in the “official” timeline. Still, a months-long investigation by Scotland Yard in the early 1990s came up empty-handed and the case was closed.
