The most awaited match between India and South Africa has attracted viewers’ attention towards Lungi Ngidi Religion after South Africa roped him in place of Tabraiz Shamsi. 

Lungi Ngidi is a Soth African professional cricketer who plays as a right-hand fast bowler for the South African national cricket team and currently playing in the India VS Australia tour.

The bowler has claimed four wickets, and Anrich Nortje dismissed one batter as India got off to a poor start vs. South Africa while Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya were at the crease.

The pace bowler was named ODI and T20I cricketer of the year at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards ceremony in July 2020.

The bowler enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Industrial Sociology at the University of Pretoria.

Lungi was schooled at Kwa-Zulu Natal’s Hilton College and was involved at every provincial age-group level from Under-13 upwards. Later, the cricketer played for Kwa-Zulu Natal Under-19s at the Khaya Majola week in 2014, where Northerns spotted him.

During the 2018 IPL auction, the bowler was bought by the Chennai Super Kings. 

 After a year, ahead of the 2019 Indian Premier League tournament, Lungi was one of eight players to be monitored by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

As per Sportamaze, the player was bought by Delhi Capitals at its base price of 50 Lakh INR in the IPL auction.

During SA20 Auction, after a fierce battle with Sunrisers, Eastern Cape and Paarl Royals bought the player for 3.4 million Rand, which is a tad more than 1.5 crore INR.
