Michael J Fox Battling With Parkinson Disease, But Is He Sick Now?

Canadian-American retired actor Michael J Fox possesses a long journey of battle with Parkinson’s Disease. The sixty-one-year actor has suffered from the illness since the age of thirty.

He gained notoriety for his performance as Marty McFly, the main character in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Back to the Future film trilogy. His most prosperous years in the movie business were the 1980s and 1990s.

He has won a Grammy Award, four Golden Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Primetime Emmy Awards. The well-known performer was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also received a star on the Canada Walk of Fame in 2000 & was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2010.

It has been more than three-decade since Michael J Fox has been battling Parkinson’s Disease. He started displaying the symptoms of the long-term degenerative disorder in 1991.

The actor was filming for the movie Doc Hollywood at the time. He receives a diagnosis of the sickness shortly after.

His only early signs of the sickness were a painful shoulder and a twitching little finger. In addition, he worried that he wouldn’t be able to work in a few years. Sadly, the dread made him drink heavily and develop despair.

Luckily, he sought help and stopped drinking altogether. He disclosed his illness in 1998, became an advocate for finding a cure, and founded Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000.

His Instagram, @realmikejfox, possesses adequate posts regarding Parkinson’s disease awareness. The Instagram account is followed by one million and three hundred thousand devotees.

Is Michael J Fox Sick Now?

Micahel J Fox is probably sick since there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease. However, he is likely to adopt the treatments to help relieve the symptoms and maintain the quality of his life.

According to various sources, he maintains his living from the symptom of his disease with the drug carbidopa/levodopa. Additionally, he also had a thalamotomy in 1998.

Though he does not often update his life activities through his social media, he posts updates about his foundation and its progress. He has also received an honorary degree for Doctor of Laws from the Justice Institute of British Columbia in recognition of his accomplishment and commitment to raising research funding and awareness for Parkinson’s disease.

He probably performs therapies such as physiotherapy and medication for additional treatment. Due to his declining health and the unreliability of his speech, he retired from acting in 2020.

His mother, Phyllis, and his father, William, welcomed him into the world in Alberta, Canada. William, his father, served in the Canadian Forces and afterward worked as a police dispatcher.

His mother also worked as an actress and a payroll clerk. J Fox has Scottish, English, and Irish ancestry.

Since July 16, 1988, he has happily married actress Tracy Pollan. The two met while filming for Family Ties. In the act, they took on the roles of lovers.

Michael, with his wife, has given birth to four children, one son, and three daughters. Their oldest child is con Sam Michael, born on May 30, 1989.

Similarly, the duo was blessed with twin daughters, Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances, on February 15, 1995. Later in 2001, they gave birth to a daughter Esmé Annabelle.

According to sources, the family lives primarily in Manhattan and owns a second home in Quogue, New York.
