Broussard attended Bishop Lynch High School while residing in Dallas, Texas, where he was raised. In his senior year, he caught 22 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 745 yards and ten scores on 63 carries.
Despite receiving offers from Colorado State, Houston, Illinois, and TCU, three-star recruit Broussard decided to play college football at Colorado.

Jarek Broussard was born to his parents on April 24, 2000, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His mother’s name is Shannon Broussard but there is nothing about his father.
According to Cubuffs.com, he was born in New Orleans, which means his parents may come from Louisiana, and he is of black origin.
His interests include socializing with friends and playing video games, specifically Madden, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto. Jalen, his older brother, was a football player at Reedley College in California. When he was younger, he went to a church camp in Colorado and claimed he “truly liked the atmosphere.” Going back to football, I felt it would be much more relaxed. I ended up sleeping there and having a great time.”
At Colorado, he is studying Ethnic Studies. Jarek was selected as the University of Colorado’s Academic Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2019. In 2021, he received the Clancy A. Broussard redshirted as a true freshman after sustaining a knee injury during practice in early September, and he also missed the following season.
Broussard, a redshirt sophomore, led the Pac-12 Conference in rushing with 895 yards and five touchdowns on 156 carries while being voted to the first team and offensive player of the year.
Jarek won the conference offensive player of the week award twice, notably on December 5, 2020, when he outran Arizona by 24-13 while carrying 301 yards. As a junior with a redshirt, Broussard had 142 times for 661 yards and two touchdowns. He used the NCAA transfer site after the season.
Honorable mention received Second-team All-Pac-12 recognition from the league’s coaches NFF chapter for the state’s entire Colorado. He played in 11 games, including ten starts; he was injured and was unable to play in the season finale.
Led the club in rushing for the second year in a row, averaging 4.65 yards per carrying to 661 yards gained. Jarek had a 49-yard long run that resulted in two scores. Thirteen throws were also grabbed for 81 yards. He has two 100-yard performances, including a season-high 151 yards on 24 carries against Oregon State.

Many people believed that Broussard, the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2020 with the Colorado Buffaloes. He would be joining the Oregon Ducks this offseason after visiting them in Jan 2022.
Given that Mel Tucker, Broussard’s former coach at Colorado, is now the head coach of the Spartans, watching him transfer to MSU makes sense. But that disappointed Oregon supporters who were hopeful that Broussard would visit Eugene. Due to the departures of CJ Verdell and Travis Dye this summer, the Ducks need the RB position.
Although there is still a chance the Ducks may snag a top recruit in the 2022 class, it would be wise for them to look in the portal for someone to assist them in gaining some experience in the backfield for the upcoming season.
