When asked what Epps believes is the secret to the show’s success in one of his interviews, he responded, “Bottle it and be a gazillionaire,” if he knew the solution.

“In the beginning, we had a wonderful story, a great team that came together, great producers, a good cast, and the timing element. We are fortunate that viewers showed up, even though the show is good.”

Omar Epps Family: Parents And Early Life

Omar Epps was born to his parents on July 20, 1973, in New York, United States. Epps spent most of his childhood in Brooklyn, New York, alongside his parents. 

Epps was raised by his mother, an elementary school principal, Bonnie Maria Epps, after his parents split when he was still a child.

While growing up, Omar resided in many Brooklyn areas (Bedford-Stuyvesant, East New York, and East Flatbush). Before beginning his career as an actor, Epps was a member of the Wolfpack rap group, which he co-founded in 1991 with his cousin.

Omar started composing poems, short stories, and songs when he was ten. In addition, Epps went to the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts.
