Early Life and Family of Mutaz Essa Barshim

Mutaz Essa Barshim, also known as Mutaz Barshim, was born on June 24, 1991, in the beautiful city of Doha, Qatar.

Essa was born in a Sudanese family to the Essa Mohamed Barshim (Father), but her mother’s name is unavailable. This athlete was born to a massive family with six siblings.

During his training at ASPIRE, he made an impressive jump of 2.14 meters in September 2009.

However, he won the gold medal while his brother, Muamer, won the silver medal with 2.16 meters.

At the end of 2013, he set yet another record and become a member of 8 men in history to clear 2.40 meters outdoors.

A new year with new challenges, Mutaz participated at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships held in Sopot, Poland.

Despite competing against one of the best athletes, Ivan Ukhov, Barshim won the gold medal with 2.38 meters jump.

With this big win, he became champion at three major competitions: bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and Silver medal at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow.
