Robbie Anderson Removed By His Own Team After Arguing With Coaches: Is He Coming Back?

Robbie Anderson Removed by his teammates, is causing a massive uproar among football fans.

You rarely see a player being removed by his teammates; that is why this case has turned multiple heads among the supporters.

Robert Steven Anderson, a wide receiver for the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers, was born on May 9, 1993. (NFL). At Temple, he played collegiate football. The New York Jets selected Anderson as an undrafted free agent in 2016.

Anderson chose Temple University over offers from Illinois, Indiana, and Marshall to play collegiate football with the Temple Owls. 

After spending his first year in Philadelphia as a redshirt, Anderson saw action on special teams and primarily practiced as a defensive back. 

Anderson shifted to wide receiver in 2013 after Temple’s head coach Matt Rhule was hired, catching 44 catches for 791 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Late in the first half, Anderson and Dailey got into a yelling match. Anderson started the second half on a stationary bike while sporting a baseball cap. Late in the third quarter, while the rest of the offense discussed strategy on the sideline, Anderson sat by himself on a cooler.

When the Panthers were down 17-10 and had not made a first down since the first quarter, Anderson and Dailey got into another argument later in the third quarter. When Wilks intervened, Anderson was directed to the locker room.

This caused a really ugly step in the career of the bright football player. He has shown a lot of promise so far, but if he continues to behave in such a way, there might be a steep downhill climb to his career. 

When asked why he was sent to the locker room, Anderson stated he “had no idea.” Anderson decided to speak with the media after meeting with general manager Scott Fitterer even though Dailey was unavailable for comment.

After Carolina’s fifth loss in six games this season and 12th in the previous 13 games going back to last season, Anderson made it obvious he hadn’t been instructed he had to address the media.

Is Anderson Coming Back?

Despite how bad his actions might have been, Anderson is a very talented player. His team would hate to lose him forever, so they hope that he can make a comeback.

But his coaches are going to make sure if he ever comes back, he will have to improve his attitude. According to Anderson, being told he couldn’t play would have upset anyone in his position.

Rhule acquired Anderson from the Jets in 2020 after he had spent four seasons with them. He was a player under Rhule at Temple, and that season, when he recorded a career-high 95 catches for 1,096 yards, it appeared as though his career had been revived.

Prior to the 2021 season, Anderson received a two-year, $29.5 million extension through 2023, but he struggled, managing only 53 catches for 519 yards.

On Sunday, Anderson failed to make a catch. He had 13 catches for 206 yards coming into the game, 75 of them on a touchdown catch against the Cleveland Browns in the first game.

The Panthers, who restructured Anderson’s contract in March, would incur a $20 million dead-cap charge over the course of this year and next, while a team that acquires Anderson would take on his $575,000 salary for the remainder of the current season.
