Andrew Rypien, the son of Canadian-born American quarterback Mark Rypien, passed away in 1998 following a brain tumor diagnosis. When he tragically passed away, he was two years old.

Mark Rypien, one of the best Canadian NFL quarterbacks of all time, was the first Canuck to start in the NFL and win Super Bowl MVP.

The Washington Redkins chose Mark in the sixth round of the 1986 NFL draft. He was reared in Spokane, Washington, and was born in Calgary. In 1988, he was the first player born in Canada to be selected to the NFL.

Mark’s name was also included in the Super Bowl XXVI MVP of the year list.

Mark has played 104 games throughout his 14-year career, compiling 18,473 passing yards, 115 touchdowns, and 88 interceptions. On top of that, Mark has won the Super Bowl twice.

Andrew Rypien, Mark Rypien’s toddler son, passed away in Post Falls, Idaho, according to the Washington Post, he had brain cancer.

According to a reliable source, Andrew passed away in 1998 due to tumor problems. He departed the human world too soon, therefore, his time was limited.

That day had been a nightmare for the family because they had recently lost an infant child. After witnessing his family’s health problems, Mark founded the Rypien Foundation to assist impoverished families fighting childhood cancer in the Inland Northwest.

Every year, the foundation gathers and distributes funds to support one-of-a-kind initiatives and projects that help meet the needs of children with cancer and build a healing environment for child cancer patients.

When the incident occurred, Andrew’s father, Mark, had signed a deal with the Atlanta Falcons. He immediately quit the squad due to health troubles in his family, and Rypien’s wife Annette has recently faced health issues.
