In the finals, he broke his previous personal record with 84.58 meters to win the Olympic javelin gold medal for the first time in his career.

He defeated many top athletes in the Olympics, such as Andreas Thorkildsen, two-time defending Olympic Champion, and Antti Ruuskanen.

With that victory, he became the youngest Olympic champion in the javelin throw and the second non-European to win the Olympic gold in men’s javelin throw.

However, Walcott came stronger in 2014 to compete in the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland.

Walcott finished at the 7th position in the group category, causing him to miss the men’s javelin throw finals.
