Michael Lawrence Tyler, also known as Mystikal by his stage name, born on 22 September 1970, is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S. Mystikal released his first debut album – on-based independent label Big Boy Records in 1994 and gained major success on Big boy’s most successful album. In 1995 Mystikal found himself involved in conflict with fellow rappers of New Orleans and got signed to rival Cash Money Records, including U.NI.L.V., B.G., and Lil Wayne.

After signing to Jive Records, Mystikal left Big boy for No Limit Records and released ‘Mind of Mystikal’ in 1995, which primarily consisted of songs that had featured on his debut. He was signed to Mater P’s No Limit in 1996 and released his second album ‘Unpredictable’ in November 1997. ‘Ghetto Fabulous was the third and last album with No Limit released in 2000, and he departed with the label but stayed with Jive. Mystikal’s most successful album ‘Let’s Get Ready, debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 with two hit songs ”Danger(Been so Long)” and ”Shake Ya Ass”.

Mystikal’s most recent solo album ‘Tarantula’ was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Album in 2003, and at the same time, he was nominated for Best Male Rap Performance and also collaborated with Mariah Carey on her ‘Rainbow’ album on the track ‘Did I Do That.’

Mystikal also had a sister Michelle Tyler who died in September 1994. She became his motivation in melodies and a major influence on his music. she even sang the chorus on”Not That Nigga” and he made a song for his sister ”Dedicated to Michelle Tyler”,” Murder”,” Murder2” and ”Murder3” referring to her death.

What Was Mystikal Arrested For?

Mystikal was sentenced to six years in prison on 15 January 2004 after pleading guilty to first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping charges for performing sexually assaulting his hairstylist with two of his bodyguard and accusing her of stealing $80,000 in checks. As part of a plea bargain, the rapper and the two bodyguards pleaded guilty and initially claimed that the incident was consensual, but later found a videotape of that incident at his house and the judge had him remanded into custody for serving a six-year sentence immediately with his bodyguards, Leland Ellis and Very Carter for sexual battery charges and also for Mystikal’s two prior arrests for drugs and gun possession.

The rapper Mystikal was convicted in federal court of the tax offenses of failing to file taxes on January 12, 2006, and served a one-year federal sentence with his six-year sentence at Louisiana’s Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. Mystikal was denied parole on January 19, 2006

And was released from custody on the federal misdemeanor tax convictions on January 11, 2007, but remained in custody on the six-year sentence. This news confused fans about his parole. Later, He was released on January 14, 2010, and registered as a sex offender.

Mystikal was again arrested on February 22, 2012, in a dispute with his domestic partner and was charged with domestic abuse battery and detained for nine days, and then released on bail.

The rapper was given a three-month jail sentence on April 16 for violating the term of his probation and was released from prison in January 2010.

He served his sentence on May 14 at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail, reducing his confinement to 81 days and credited him for serving nine days. The court determined him to pay child support for his two youngest children for his domestic charges to his partner.

On August 21, 2017, Mystikal got a warrant issued for his arrest and turned himself into the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with assault, hijacking, and rape.

The rapper did not accept his involvement with the woman who accused him. He was able to post bond on $3 million, and the case was subsequently dropped off due to lack of evidence.
