Where Did Nurse Owami Davies Go?
On July 4, Ms. Davies had informed her mother she was going to the gym before leaving their house in Grays, Essex.
She was discovered on July 6, while waiting for a friend, dozing off in a doorway in Clarendon Road, Croydon. She assured the Met Police officers that she did not require assistance and turned around to go.
The police database did not list Ms. Davies as missing when her family first reported her missing, even though they had received that information earlier.
Detectives stated on Monday that Ms. Davies might be rough sleeping because she had no money on her Oyster card, no access to her phone, and no bank cards. However, they stressed that they kept an open mind to all possibilities.
Two persons were detained on suspicion of murder and three others on suspicion of kidnapping in connection with her disappearance, but the Met later stated that there was no proof that she had been harmed.
Officers stated on Tuesday that all five of them were still accessible on police bail and that a “full debrief” would be conducted before deciding what to do with them.
Regarding the police inquiry, the Independent Office for Police Conduct stated that it was “assessing the relevant facts to decide what further action may be required.”
