As an amateur, Finch started his career at the Colac west cricket club located in his hometown.

Unfortunately, Australia was eliminated in the semifinals by the Pakistani U-19 team.

Aaron joined the Australian national team in 2011 and debuted against England in a T20 series.

In this series, it was all or nothing for Aaron. He had to prove his worth to stay in the national team, and he did it by scoring staggering 53 runs off only 33 balls.

ODI Debut and Making a record

Finch then became a regular on the roster in the Australian team in the T20s, and soon, he was able to debut for the Australian team in the ODIs.

He debuted for Australia in the ODI format in January of 2011 against Sri Lanka. Australia won that match, but Finch could not play well, and he only scored 16 runs in 28 balls.

But in 2013, he performed a jaw-dropping performance against England in a T20 series.

Aaron set the record for the highest runs made by an individual player in a T20 match by scoring 156 runs from 63 balls.

It was a truly spectacular performance, and everyone in the stadium was in awe.

In his 156 runs, he hit 14 sixes, setting the record for the highest sixes scored in a t20 match, and hit 11 fours.

No one had even thought someone could score 150 runs individually in a t20 match, and Finch became the first to do so.

The Australian cricket board awarded him the best T20I Player of the Year in that season.

Winning the World Cup

When the 2015 world cup arrived, everyone was eager to know who would be on the roster, and due to his excellent performance over the years, Finch was selected as part of the playing 11.

In his first-ever world cup game against England in the group stages. He scored 135 runs, and that was his first world cup century.

He performed well throughout the tournament, and eventually, the Australian team won the 2015 world cup, and Finch won his first world cup in his debut year.

Breaking his own record

The next big moment for Finch came in in July of 2018, and He broke his own record of the highest run made by an individual in a t20 series.

He scored a total of 172 runs against Zimbabwe. It is actually crazy if we think about it. He scored 172 runs in just 76 balls.

The Australian had an average of 2.26 runs per ball. He scored 10 sixes this time in his total of 172 runs, and yet again, the crowd was left in awe.

Becoming the Captain of the Australian team

In 2018, he had a brief Test match career where he played on the match against the Pakistani team, and this was his first and last test series.

He officially announced that he would not play another test match in his career as it was not suited for him.

Then in when the 2019 world cup started, Aaron rejoiced as he was named the captain of the Australian squad.

Aaron’s career in the premier league goes way back to 2010 when he started playing for the Rajasthan Royals.

Similarly, in 2013, he played for the Pune Warriors, and in 2014, he was selected by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
