Alan Bersten Career Details Explored

Alan Bersten is a professional Latin and ballroom dancer from the United States. Alan was a participant on So You Think You Can Dance’s tenth season and is currently a professional dancer and choreographer on Dancing with the Stars. 

He and his celebrity partner, The Bachelorette’s Hannah Brown, won season 28 of Dancing with the Stars.

Bersten first appeared on Dancing With The Stars as a part of the group in season 20. He stayed in that role for four more seasons before making his professional partner debut in season 25.

Bersten danced salsa with Paige VanZant during the second week of season 22 since VanZant’s regular partner, Mark Ballas, suffered a back injury during training. Bersten learned the full dance routine in one day and performed it for the live show the next day.

In season 25, Bersten was elevated to professional partner and partnered with 1980s actress Debbie Gibson. The pair was terminated in the second week and finished 12th. Bersten appeared alongside fellow cast member Sharna Burgess on the show’s official promotional poster that season.

Alan Bersten Health Issue: What Happened To Him?

Alan was on tour with Dancing With The Stars in 2018 when he began experiencing acute stomach aches. 

A blood test revealed that he had hyperparathyroidism, which is caused by a tumor on one of his parathyroid glands. 

The next day, he had surgery to remove his left parathyroid. After only a week of rest, Bersten returned to work.

Despite his claim that he felt “fine,” Bersten’s mother persuaded him to return to the doctor for another blood test. 

A week later, he received the results, which revealed that it was not supplemented that was causing this but rather a tumor on one of his parathyroid glands.

Bersten got the surgery the next day after communicating with the scheduling office and explaining that he needed to go on Good Morning America on April 13 for the cast reveal of DWTS’ forthcoming all-athletes season.
