Britt Reid accident was worst for a 5-year-old girl who has been in a coma since the incident. 

A five-year-old girl was critically hurt in a crash in 2021 when Britt Reid, a former coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, admitted guilt to felony DWI with serious bodily damage. The accident involved a pickup truck hitting two stationary cars on an interstate entry ramp.

On September 26, the 37-year-old son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was supposed to stand trial. Before the plea agreement, he might have faced a term of up to seven years in prison, but now he might receive anywhere from probation to four years.

 He entered his plea at the Jackson County Circuit Court in Kansas City. October 28 is the date set for the sentence.

On February 4, 2021, Britt Reid’s Dodge pickup collided with the vehicles when he was allegedly drunk and traveling at a speed of 84 mph. 

Ariel Young, a teenage girl in one of the autos, sustained a catastrophic brain injury. The collision injured six persons, including Reid.

Britt Reid, a former assistant coach with the Kansas City Chiefs, was given a three-year prison term on Tuesday for drunken driving.

Reid, the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, was responsible for a three-vehicle collision that left a 5-year-old child with serious injuries.

Reid, 37, had admitted guilt to the felony charge of driving under the influence.

On February 4, 2021, Reid crashed into two vehicles while operating a pickup truck at a speed of over 85 mph close to Arrowhead Stadium. 

The crash left Ariel Young, who was five years old at the time, with a chronic brain injury.

Reid apologized to the family at the court on Tuesday, holding back tears as he turned to them and said, “This crash is something I’ve struggled with.”

After the decision, Reid issued a statement expressing “sincere regret and acceptance of responsibility for his conduct and hopes and prayers for A.Y.’s continuing recovery.”

The family had been hoping for the seven-year maximum sentence on felony drunk driving charges.

The lawyer, Tom Porto, said in a statement that the family was “outraged” that the maximum term wasn’t imposed.
