Colt McCoy is an American football quarterback who plays in the National Football League (NFL) for the Arizona Cardinals.
McCoy participated in collegiate football at Texas, where as a senior in 2009, he received several accolades and trophies.
Kellen Moore of Boise State is McCoy’s closest competitor all-time in games won by an NCAA Division I FBS quarterback. In the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Cleveland Browns.
Colt has also played for the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and San Francisco 49ers, largely as a backup quarterback.
McCoy guided the Texas Longhorns to an undefeated 12-0 regular season record and a 13-12 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers to claim the Big 12 Championship in Cowboys Stadium during his final season.
With a right shoulder injury, McCoy departed Texas’ first offensive drive early in the first quarter of the 2010 BCS National Championship Game against Alabama. He remained out for the rest of the contest.
Colt McCoy Arrested And Charge: What Did Arizona Cardinals Do?
Colt McCoy was arrested on Cockfighting Charges in July 2010. According to reports from 2020, as it turns out, quarterbacks have been accused of animal cruelty other than Michael Vick.
Colt McCoy, the quarterback for the Texas Longhorns and potential Heisman Trophy winner, was charged with three counts of animal cruelty for attending and sponsoring cockfights on his Texas property.
In a letter of apology that was flawlessly written, McCoy stated, “I’m sorry for everything I’ve done.” I apologize for raising chickens to fight just to have them fight. I regret eating chicken fingers as well. I am now aware of how cruel I have been.
As rumors of such animal cruelty occurred, Austin Police officers searched the McCoy property. Police officers conducting the operation came uncovered poultry fighting rings and cages.
The officials also discovered heavy bags and small-sized benches for the chickens to exercise on. Last but not least, T-shirts bearing the slogan “Bad Newz Chickens,” the team name of McCoy’s Chicken, were uncovered.
The Big 12 or Texas has yet to decide on disciplinary action despite arguments on both sides of the issue. The Big 12’s rednecks all support cockfights, which is why there hasn’t been any decision.
Dan Beebe also stated that he supports lynching in public and would want to see it back to Big 12 athletics.
Where Is Colt McCoy Now In [current-year]?
Colt McCoy plays as a football quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League(NFL).
According to the team, Colt McCoy, the Cardinals’ backup quarterback, was on the injured reserve list on Wednesday.
Third-string quarterback Trace McSorley has moved up the depth chart to replace Kyler Murray, as he will be out for at least the first four games of the season.
Although it doesn’t mention his injury specifically, Wednesday’s statement states that McCoy “has been battling with an arm issue during much of training camp.” According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the quarterback injured his calf.
Last year, McCoy was Murray’s backup, but after Murray suffered an ankle injury in 2021, McCoy took over three games.
In Murray’s absence, the [calculate_years datestring=”00/00/1985″] years old quarterback guided Arizona to two victories and concluded the season with 740 passing yards, three touchdown passes, and just one interception in 99 attempts. He participated in eight games in total.
However, it’s unlikely that the injury will substantially affect the Cardinals as long as Murray stays healthy. Arizona’s season kicks off against the Chiefs at home on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET.
