Bud Black debuted in the eighties. He debuted on September 5, 1981. Seattle Mariners drafted Bud Black and started his career.
Black just played one season for the Mariners, and the next year in 1982, he moved on to Kansas City Royals.
He played six seasons with them. In his fourth season with them in 1985, the Kansas City Royals won the World Series Cup.
Then he joined the Cleveland Indians for the period of three-season from 1988 to 1990. But in 1990, he switched to Toronto Blue Jays.
The next four seasons after that, he played with the San Francisco Giants. And lastly, he returned to the Cleveland Indians before retiring in the year 1995.
Bud Black played as a pitcher in baseball for fourteen seasons. And in those years, he won 121 games.
Coach Career
After his retirement as a player, Bud took on a new route in life. He decided to become a coach in the early 2000s.
The Los Angeles Angels Anaheim hired Bud Black as their pitching coach.

Manager Career
In the October of 2006, Bud Black decided to try out for the San Francisco Giants’ manager position, but that job went to the Padres coach.
He applied for the vacant position of San Diego Padres manager. Black was hired on November 8, 2006.
When the Padres finished the season in the last place in 2008, Bud still returned to the team in 2009. His contract was extended till 2010 with club options in 2011.
In 2010 his contract was extended by three years with club options for 2014 and 2015.
Bud Black had been the manager of the Padres in the worst time of the Club. Yet, he won the National League Manager of the Year award in 2010.
Bud was fired from his post as the manager on June 15, 2015, and the reason is unknown. He had 6649 wins in his records and 713 losses.

The Washington National reportedly wanted to hire Black in 2015. But black refused the job as the pay was too low for him.
He returned to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as their General manager. He managed them for two years.
After that, he was hired as the Colorado Rockies manager on November 7th of 2016. He is still currently their manager to this day.
