Pfleger has been the target of numerous sex abuse allegations, including three in 2021. Although the first three allegations were later judged baseless, a fourth complainant came forward. In October 2022, the investigation was still ongoing.
The Archdiocese of Chicago said on Saturday that Father Michael Pfleger would be the focus of an investigation into a recent allegation of sexual abuse of a minor that reportedly occurred more than 30 years ago.

A New Allegation Of Sexual Abuse
On October 15, 2022, a new allegation of abuse was made, and Pfleger once more withdrew from the ministry pending an investigation.
The abuse had allegedly took place in the church rectory while the Soul Children of Chicago Choir was practicing, according to the accuser.
In a letter to his parishioners, Pfleger refuted the allegations and noted that the same attorney who brought them had represented his earlier claimed abuse victims.
Pfleger also made a letter from a lawyer representing the Soul Children of Chicago Choir public in support of Pfleger, stressing that the children were always kept safe at choir practices by chaperones and parents.
Pfleger is alleged to have been accused of sexually abusing a minor over 40 years ago, according to a statement released by the Archdiocese of Chicago on January 5, 2021. By January 25, the first victim’s brother, a second claimed victim, had also come forward.
On March 3, 2021, a witness claimed that Pfleger gave the victim alcohol and marijuana before sexually assaulting him. In contrast to the other charges, the victim was a young man of 18 years old.
Michael Pfleger Early Life And Family Explored
Michael Pfleger was born on May 22, 1949. Pfleger, a Chicago’s South Side citizen and a German immigrant, attended Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary South, Loyola University, and the University of Saint Mary of the Lake.
He was ordained as a priest for the Chicago-area Roman Catholic Archdiocese on May 14, 1975.
Since 1981, he has been the priest of Saint Sabina, an African-American-dominated Catholic parish in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood. He has always served just one church, which is remarkable for a diocese where pastors often only hold positions for six to twelve years.
When was appointed to his current position at 31, he was the youngest pastor in the Chicago archdiocese. He oversaw the opening of the Elders Residence, the Social Service Center, and the Employment Resource Center at Saint Sabina.
