The person of interest in the “violent” quadruple homicide that left four men dismembered in an Oklahoma river has been located by Police.
Police Chief Joe Prentice confirmed that on Tuesday, salvage yard owner Joe Kennedy was taken into custody in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, in a car that had been reported stolen to the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

More than 1,200 miles away in central Florida, Police detained a “person of interest” in the deaths of four Oklahoma bikers, according to officials.
According to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Police, Joseph Kennedy, 67, was detained on Monday in Daytona Beach Shores in a vehicle “that was reported stolen to the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office.”
Alex Stevens, 29, Mark Chastain, 32, Billy Chastain, 30, Mike Sparks, 32, and Billy Chastain, 30, were reported missing last week. Their bodies were found days later, shot and shot mutilated, in the Deep Fork River, according to Okmulgee Police.
Police reported that Kennedy’s blue Chrysler PT Cruiser was discovered “abandoned behind a shop” in Morris shortly after they identified Kennedy as a “person of interest” on Monday afternoon.
At 8:30 on Tuesday morning, a Police license plate scanner picked up Kennedy’s car near the 2800 block of South Atlantic Avenue, reporting it as stolen with its driver listed as “missing,” according to Michael Fowler, the director of public safety for Daytona Beach Shores.
Kennedy was taken into custody without a hitch and refused to speak with the Police, according to Fowler. We learned that he is a person of interest in a triple homicide after [confirming with Oklahoman Police] his status as a missing person, Fowler said.
Joseph Kennedy Is Being Held Without Bail
According to jail documents that do not identify a lawyer who may speak on Kennedy’s behalf, he was detained in Florida for the grand theft of a car.
Kennedy, who has an Okmulgee address on file, is being detained without bond. According to documents from the Corrections Department, he was arrested at 10:21 am on Tuesday and lodged in the Volusia County Branch Jail on a single count of grand theft of a vehicle.
The four men’s dismembered bodies, which had been reported missing, were discovered on Friday in Okmulgee’s Deep Fork River. Okmulgee has a population of around 11,000 and is located about 40 miles south of Tulsa.
An official cause of death has not been released, but all four men had gunshot wounds, and their bodies had been dismembered, according to the Police chief.
Before going missing late last week, Prentice claims Kennedy was questioned about the four missing guys but denied knowing them.
Kennedy was given a deferred 10-year jail sentence after pleading guilty to assault with a deadly weapon in 2012, according to Prentice, who did not immediately return a call for comment.
According to court records, in 2013, Kennedy entered a no-contest plea to felony assault and battery charges with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor obstructing a Police officer.
According to court documents, he had until May 15, 2023, to adhere to the probationary requirements.
