Former Home Secretary from 2018 to 2019 and Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2019 to 2020, Sajid Javid is a British politician who held the position of Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from June 2021 to July 2022. 

Who Is Sajid Javid?

Sajid Javid, now 53 years old, was born in Rochdale, Lancashire, in the United Kingdom on December 5, 1969.

He is one of Abdul Ghani-Javid and Zubaid Javid’s five sons, immigrants from the Pakistani province of Punjab.

His family, who immigrated to the UK in the 1960s, were farmers from the Punjabi village of Rajana close to Toba Tek Singh. His father was a bus operator. Until she had been in the UK for ten years, his mother could not speak English.

With his four brothers, Sajid Javid grew up in a two-bedroom Bristol apartment located above a store.

Bas Javid, who was in charge of front-line police at Scotland Yard after being promoted from his position as commander of the Solihull Police division, was his brother.

On April 22, 2010, Javid said in front of a crowd at a church-sponsored husting during his first election campaign for Bromsgrove, “My own family’s ancestry is Muslim.”

The chairman of the association had given the following explanation: “Some members didn’t think locals would vote for a Muslim to be their MP.”
 
In 2017, Javid declared, “We can’t deny that these people think they are Muslims,” speaking at a Muslim News Awards celebration. He also said, “We have no right to defend those who assault and kill in the name of Islam.
