Sola Sobowale began her career in films such as The Village Headmaster, Mirror is the Sun, and the Yoruba drama Asewo To Re Mecca. She had also worked on films in Nigeria, authoring, co-scripting, directing, and producing.

She recently announced on her Instagram account that she would appear in an upcoming Bollywood film directed by Hamisha.

Sola Sobowale, the Super Story star, is still alive and well. She is eagerly awaiting the start of production on her debut Bollywood film.

Recently, Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale, also known as Toyin Tomato, has been rumored to be dead. It was said that she was allegedly arrested and beheaded in Saudi Arabia for drug-related offenses. 

Sola Sobowale was born in Ondo State on December 26, 1965, to her parents Joseph and Esther Olagookun. 

Her father was a retired principal, and her mother had previously served as a headmistress. 

She was enrolled at the University of Ibadan to study Music after completing her primary and secondary studies. Her love of acting led her to pursue a degree in Theatre Arts.

However, things did not go as planned for Sola after her university conviction.

Sola’s parents initially opposed her acting, but Oyelana persuaded them that it was a respectable vocation and not a path to deviance. Sola’s parents, thankfully, gave their approval.

Sola Sobowale Husband: Meet Oludotun Sobowale

Oludotun Sobowale, Sola’s husband, was the former corporate executive director of EKO Hospital before transferring to England.

They have two daughters, Taiwo Sobowale and Kehinde Sobowale, as well as three sons.

The actress and her husband have five children in all. One of her kids, Taiwo, starred in the sitcom ‘Everyday People,’ according to the veteran actress, “but she is no longer into acting.”

Sola Sobowale Career Details Explored

Sobowale rose to prominence as Toyin Tomato in the popular TV drama series ‘Super Story: Oh Father, Oh Daughter’ in 2001. 

At the 15th edition of the African Movie Academy Prizes (AMAA) in 2019, the actress was awarded Africa’s finest actress for her starring role in the smash film ‘King of Boys,’ which earned three AMAA awards.

Sola’s acting career was not without challenges at first. She first entered the profession with the assistance of her brother-in-law, Tunji Oyelana, and made her acting debut in the film Sura, the tailor.

Tunji Oyelana was instrumental in Sola’s acting career, and he also enrolled her in university. Oyelana worked as a lecturer, singer, and actor all at the same time.

Sola was previously seen in The Village Headmaster, Mirror in the Sun, and the Yoruba film Asewo To Re Mecca.

Sola Sobowale began her acting career with a series of roles in films produced by the Awada Kerikeri Group, led by Adebayo Salami.

Sola has written, co-written, directed, and produced various Nigerian films, notably Ohun Oko Somida, a 2010 Nigerian film starring Adebayo Salami.

She appeared in Dangerous Twins, a 2004 Nigerian drama film written and directed by Niji Akanni and produced by Tade Ogidan. She also appeared in Tade Ogidan’s film Family on Fire, which he produced and directed.

Sola Sobowale hit the lottery when she was cast as Toyin Tomato in Super Story.

However, after her huge comeback, the experienced actress has transformed from Toyin Tomato to Eniola Salami and now Laburu, a lead role in Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King of Boys.’
