Jean Segura is a professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic who is presently the shortstop for the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball (MLB). On March 17, 1990, he was born in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic.

The Segura family has a long history in baseball, thanks to its Dominican history. Every time Carlos played, Jean was brought along to watch, giving the little boy lifelong motivation to pursue the sport.

Among women’s teams, softball, the Dominican Republic’s take on baseball, is more popular than baseball. Anny, Jean’s mother, participated in this sport. When Jean was 12 years old, he briefly lost interest in baseball and switched his attention to basketball, the most glamorous American sport, for a short period.

Much information about Jean’s family is unavailable on the internet or any social media platform. However, his parents are very open about their love for him. They believed that their child was gifted. They were somewhat unhappy that their son was going to the USA for his professional career because he would be far away from them.

Jean Segura almost left baseball after the death of their son in 2014

When Jean Segura thinks of Juan Diego, he is happy. The mere thought of his 2-year-old son instantly cheers the shortstop up. One glance at his son’s face will take the anger away, regardless of whether the Mariners lost or he went 0 for 4 with a mistake.

That is said to as happiness, and Segura feels it every day. It’s also a feeling he thought he might not experience ever again. The 27-year-old, who just inked a five-year, $70 million agreement, admitted, “I almost gave up baseball. I had passed away there on the field.

Rewind to July 2014, when Segura was a Milwaukee player. Segura’s mother called a teammate’s wife with some news after the Brewers’ defeat by the Cardinals. The wife contacted the husband, and he informed Jean. Jannie, Segura’s 9-month-old son, had passed away there.

Segura opted to withhold the details of what transpired, saying that Janniel had become ill a few days before dying. However, he was immediately put on the bereavement list and took a flight home to bury his kid.

Balls and strikes sometimes seemed to have no purpose, and the ensuing 18 months were the saddest of his life. Segura, who is on the disabled list due to an ankle sprain, said: “I would just always think about him.” I didn’t speak. Playing this game was not enjoyable for me. He was in a dark place for a long time but made an incredible comeback.

Segura then had a breakout year with Arizona, hitting.319 with 20 home runs and 203 hits, which led the National League. He is hitting.341 for the Mariners this season, which is most likely why Jerry Dipoto, the general manager of Seattle, extended his contract at the beginning of the month through 2022.

Segura, who was gloomy the previous two seasons in Milwaukee, is suddenly one of the clubhouse’s friendliest players. Earlier this week, he declared, “I’m in the best place of my life.
