Lord Mountbatten wife is Edwina Cynthia Annette Mountbatten, also known as Lady Mountbatten. She was an English heiress, socialite, and relief worker.

The couple spent a lot of money on their homes, luxurious goods, and entertainment. A honeymoon tour of American and European royal courts, which included a stop at Niagara Falls, came next.

The newlyweds appeared in Charlie Chaplin’s home movie, “Nice and Friendly,” which was not screened in theatres while on their honeymoon in California.

Despite being married to her, he had an extramarital affair with many other women, as claimed by his daughter and others closely related to him. Also, Edwina had such an affair during her marriage but was still accepted by her husband.

Who Are Lord Mountbatten Children?

Lord Mountbatten and his wife were the parents of two children. Their first-born daughter was Patricia Knatchbull, born on February 14, 1924, and died on June 13, 2017. Their other daughter was named Lady Pamela Hicks, who is currently ninety-three years old.

Since the couple had no sons and their positions as per the letters patent was drafted; the male line, the titles could pass to his daughters, in order of seniority of birth.

Patricia then received the title of countess and a seat in the House of Lords due to this inheritance. She held these positions until 1999, when the House of Lords Act of 1999 expelled the majority of hereditary peers.

On the other hand, Pamela served as a bridesmaid and later as a lady-in-waiting to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Lord Mountbatten And His Wife’s Death Cause 

Lord Mountbatten and his wife passed away more than half-century. Prince Louis of Battenberg was born on June 25, 1900, and died on August 27, 1979, at 79.

Similarly, his wife was born in London on November 28, 1901, and passed away on February 21, 1960, at 58. 

Members of the Provisional Irish Republican Army placed a bomb on Lord Mountbatten’s fishing boat at Mullaghmore, County Sligo, Ireland, and killed him. He was given a formal funeral at Westminster Abbey and interred in Hampshire’s Romsey Abbey.

While on an inspection visit for the St. John Ambulance Brigade, Lady Mountbatten passed away in her sleep on February 21, 1960, at Jesselton, British North Borneo, at age 58, for undetermined reasons. As per her wishes, she was buried at sea off the coast of Portsmouth by HMS Wakeful.

It has been a long time since they died, but many people still remember them as a part of history and their good works during their lifetime.
