Maurice Clarett was arrested in Columbus after making an illegal U-turn in August 2006.

Clarett is a former American footballer who played for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team before being arrested; everyone loved his performance. 

Maurice started his professional career as a footballer in 2004; before playing with NFL, he played college football for Ohio State. 

Maurice was a great player, but because of several arrests and imprisonment, he was removed from high school.

On August 9, 2006, Clarett was arrested in Columbus after he made an illegal U-turn and led the Police on a chase; the chase ended in a nearby restaurant parking lot; Police said he was trying to escape from them.

Columbus Police Sgt revealed it. Mike Woods that they discovered a katana, a zanbatō, a loaded AK-47 variant, and two loaded handguns in Clarett’s vehicle.

They also found an open bottle of Grey Goose vodka, which might have been drunk by Clarett while driving. 

He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison by Judge David Fais, but he was released after three and a half years.

Before being arrested on August 9, he was searched for the robbery of two people. In that case, Clarett turned himself in to Police on January 7 and was released on a $50,000 bond.

During his time in prison, he spent his time doing a blog that his girlfriend posted. Because of the blog, people knew about his activities, and he mentioned his struggle and everything in the videos.

Clarett distracted himself from developing his mind by reading psychology books and business-related literature, and he was doing very well with his life.

Clarett was released in 2010 and invited to Ohio State to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the undefeated championship season of 2002.

After his release from prison, he became a public speaker talking about his previous struggles and recovery. Maurice Clarett founded a behavioral health agency in Ohio.

Talking about where he is now, Clarett recently became an entrepreneur and was appointed to the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce Board in February 2022. He has discussed the education system, workforce training, and recovery from addiction.
